Aurora Aksnes' first musical memories involve finding a tiny piano that was in her basement, and being fascinated at the sound it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. He urged her not to pursue music solely to have fun or to aid in growing, but that she should explore it. This led to her started writing the music she composed herself. As well as Bjork, she cites Leonard Cohen as an influence. The singer decided to perform her music in public when her mother suggested that they could help people not be famous with her music, but rather to help those around them see the importance of their work and how they can affect the world. She was suggested by her mother to be able to perform her music publicly in order to help people realize the importance of their work and how they can affect the world. It was not until she turned 14 that she told her parents. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. She just loves to write songs. She believes that music can help people feel more relaxed.
